Notre Dame
Cité - Saint Louis
The historic heart of Paris, the Ile de la Cité is where the right and left banks meet. The island is home to architectural gems such as Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral, the Conciergerie and Sainte-Chapelle, as well as beautiful promenades such as Place Dauphine, Square du Vert Galant overlooking the Seine, and the picturesque Queen Elizabeth II Flower Market, also a bird market on Sundays.
Behind the cathedral, at the end of the Jean XXIII garden, the Pont Saint Louis leads to the island of the same name, whose opulent facades conceal magnificent private mansions, including the Hôtel de Lauzun and the Hôtel Lambert.
Rue Saint Louis en l'Ile, which crosses the island in the middle, is dotted with boutiques and galleries, while the terraces on the Quai d'Orléans offer a superb view of Notre-Dame and the Pantheon in the background.
